We opted for the AlphaPal magnet, since it was gender neutral and matched the colour of our van.Basically, The Parking Pal is a magnet that you keep on the side of your vehicle all the time. When your kids exit the vehicle in a public place, you tell them to "keep their hand on the hand" as a way to prevent them from running into the lot while you're busy with other things like putting bags in the car or getting things out.
It's such a simple concept, and because of that, it works really well. Within a day, my daughter was eager to use the magnet, and now she insists on keeping her hand there whenever we're going somewhere in the van - even in our own driveway.
The Parking Pal is definitely a product I would recommend. I think it's an easy to grasp idea for kids, and it's one more way to help keep them safe.As part of this review, the makers of The Parking Pal are giving away one Parking Pal to a reader of this blog. All you have to do to enter is visit their site and then come back here and leave a comment indicating which design you like the best. A winner will be drawn at random from all comments.

SciFi Dad, thanks for the review, Sounds like it might just work. :) I like the AlphaPal Magnet. I can think of a little boy that needs it. Lol!
This seems like a good idea - but would be tough to use here in Arizona given how hot the cars get.
I have been telling my kids to "stand on the line" for years and it works just as well. They hop out of the car and stand on the line by the parking spot every time.
(not interested in the random giveaway - given that I don't think it would work in Arizona - just wanted to make another suggestion)
I like the PlanetPal, but I'd have to go wtih the FishPal to keep with a recurring theme.
I'm not to the point where we need it yet, though, so I don't understand the requirement. But I'll take others' greater experience in the matter to heart.
Right now, I'm just starting to teach the boy to hold my hand when we walk somewhere.
I don't let my kid not hold my hand for a second while we're out in the street. Even if it means I have to leave my cart or I drop things, I never let her hand go until she is in the car and buckled in.
I'm paranoid like that.
P.S. I do like the idea though, and think it's good for older children.
P.P.S. Although I can totally see my paranoid ass holding my 13-yr old's hand in a busy parking lot.
P.P.P.S. My kids are gonna hate me, aren't they?
Hmmm, I'm with the others here. In parking lots, the boy either is still/back in the car or holding my hand. I don't think I'm trusting enough to think that he'd stand w/ his hand on the spot -- instead he'd get distracted by something and dart/run after/to it. Oh, and the fact that we drive a Saturn and have plastic side panels that aren't magnetic :) It'd make good geocaching swag though... so in that vein, I think the PlanetPal is cool.
The DynoPal looks cute and our little monkey will probably be ready for it soon but as you are aware, it could only be placed on my car and not on the hubby's Charger!
